This time we went to Mount Vancomun, long but not too demanding excursion. Let’s start from Val Visdende, Costa d’Antola Location. We go up the bed of the Val Carnia stream for path CAI-128 which crosses the whole valley to the homonymous fork. Initially wooded journey up to The Drotelle Dairy with various characteristic bridges, which allow the crossing of the stream. Shortly after the structure, the path widens up to cross the road of the CAI-170 huts that we travel for a short stretch to the west. We resume the path that goes up to the Val Carnia fork by entering the Carnica CAI-172 crossing. From here begins the climb to the top of the mountain.

We walk the Carnic Crossing east for a short stretch then and we go up a channel equipped with simple metal ropes. Aided by some well-made steps we reach the crest that winds from the Vancomun peak to Col Chiastelin. Now we leave the path with a signpost and in about twenty minutes we reach the double top of the mountain going up its west edge for meadows. Very panoramic peak given the altitude of 2580 msl in third place in Val Visdende after Monte Peralba and Monte Palombino. In the return we walk the crest of the Col Chiastelin and arrived at its summit we initially go down again in the ridge then deviating slightly east for meadows, up to the Chiastelin Dairy where we return to the forest road with a CAI-197 signpost to the valley.
